Day 21 – 30 Days of Thanksgiving…

Monday November 21, 2011

So I commended enjoyment because there is nothing better for man under the sun than to eat, drink, and enjoy himself, for this will accompany him in his labor during the days of his life that God gives him under the sun. Ecclesiastes 8:15 (HCSB)

Just think about it….all of this food for one day! Here’s a little rundown for you on the number of miles you need to put in over the next two weeks to work off that T’Day dinner, assuming you’re an average runner burning about 100 calories per mile – a quick search online indicated the average American will consume 3,700 to 4,000 calories Thanksgiving Day.  Have fun running that 37 miler.  Will it count if I split the miles up over the course of a week?  Oh my I think it is time to pull out the “comfy pants”!

But while you and your family is consuming all of that food there will be many that will have a smaller portion or none at all.  Take time to help others this season.  Give to your church, local grocery store, or other organization that supports feeding others.  Yea it might be a slight extra cost or sometime out of your day, however just think what a difference it will make in someone else’s life.

11/21 – Food, food, food!  As you begin to think about that great Thanksgiving Day meal you’ll be eating later this week, take some time to thank God for food and the abundance most of us experience. Pray for those who will go without this Thanksgiving Day. Do something for someone less fortunate than you, if you are able.
